Good news: UF drops plans to scrap computer science department

"The proposal has been met with overwhelming negative response, much of which I believe has been based on misunderstanding," UF President Bernie Machen told students in an email Wednesday. "It is clear that the University of Florida must figure out a way to make it through these financially difficult times in a productive manner. I am optimistic we can do that."
College of Engineering Dean Cammy Abernathy's plan, stemming from a $300 million statewide budget cut imposed across all of Florida's universities, called for transferring computer science students to the electrical engineering department, moving faculty to other engineering divisions, more focus on teaching and less on research and eliminating all teaching assistants.

....you'll LOVE what Pres. Romney and a Republican Congress in Washington will do! And yet, Obama's chances of winning Florida are very slim. Unbelievable!
