Syrian opposition says Hama hit by rockets / UN still has only 15 monitors on the ground

In Hama they said 50 people died when the army fired rockets into a building complex. Only 16 deaths have been confirmed, and the government claims the building was an opposition weapons factory that blew up.

Whoever is right it is clear that two weeks into the ceasefire the violence has only eased, not stopped.

The UN is angry at the pace its observers are being allowed in, and wants more personnel on the ground, and quicker.

In Douma vanguard elements of the UN mission yesterday saw heavy armour and fighting still in the town, but the observers are still too thin on the ground to monitor everything. Of 300 UN staff assigned to Syria, only 15 are in place for the moment.

The UN investigates what happened in Hama once they get enough people on the ground. They will probably be able to determine whether it was a bomb factory blowing up or the result of a rocket or missile attack.

Hard to believe that they still only have 15 monitors on the ground in Syria.

1. I would think that they are reluctant to put any more in, cause it seems to be damn well

dangerous there. Probably should be pulling the 15 out that are there.

3. The reluctance seems to be from Syria not from the UN.

At least so far the violence does not seem to be scaring the monitors away though that has happened before in other countries and is perhaps a goal of some.

2. Rumors

Rumors are that it was a Frog Rocket from the Syrian 47th division.

There are lots of eyes watching what is going on. Syrian regime should remember that when they lie.
