House Speaker Boehner acknowledges 'stumbles'

http://news.yahoo.com/house-speaker-boehner-acknowledges-stumbles-162603220.html

"WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republicans in the House of Representatives, whose ranks swelled as a result of last November's elections, have gotten off to a clumsy start this year, House Speaker John Boehner said on Tuesday, as legislative initiatives have been derailed by attacks from inside the party.

"There have been a couple of stumbles," Boehner told reporters after meeting in a closed session with his rank-and-file.

The latest Republican casualty was a border security bill aimed at demonstrating a tough law-and-order approach toward stopping illegal immigration, mostly along the southern border with Mexico.

Republican Representative Pete Sessions, who chairs the powerful House Rules Committee that is controlled by Boehner, told reporters that leadership is taking a breather on the border security bill to give members more time to understand how immigration issues will be tackled this year. The bill, Sessions added, "was well understood until it got confusing."

Well, it's not uncommon for a "dry drunk" to stumble.

Funny, this story about T-Baggers demanding "purity" and mucking up the works, REMINDS ME OF SOME OF OUR VERY OWN DU MEMBERS who have never met a Democrat they couldn't criticize or belittle.

Oh well, this is the Congress we voted for...guess we have to live with it....afterall...there's really no difference between the parties

Oh wait, maybe I have that wrong. There is a difference between the parties, but apparently NO difference between the T-Bagggers on the right and the purist on the left. They just hate everyone!

"The Bill was well understood until it got confusing" into the new "I invented the internet"? Of course not. Gore never actually said that. Why use a direct stupid quote from a Repuke when you can make up shit about a Dem.

Liberal Media my ass!

As a matter of fact, I think I'll use it from now on. Besides, it takes less time to type than "the 86-Proof Congressman."

Granted there may be some DUers that have voiced their concerns over the way things have been going, but to listen to your whining this whole place is on your shit list... Why stay here if you don't like the people or what they have to say?

A story that's a good occasion for criticizing Republicans is turned into an opportunity to criticize other Democrats... the criticism being that they're too ready to criticize other Democrats.

As long as John Boehner is Speaker of the House and Ted Cruz is Chairman of the NASA Science and Technology Committee, I will continue to point out how completely stupid it is for some folks to come on DU and tell us all how there is "no difference" between the parties and how votes don't matter because they only got 76% of what they wanted from the Democrats and President Obama.

To me, those folks are no different than T-Baggers who complain that John Boehner and Mitch McConnell compromise "too much".

They are no different than the little brat who takes his marbles and goes home because he wanted chocolate ice cream, but was only offered vanilla with chocolate sprinkles.

I will continue to promote the idea that this country is infinitely better with Democrats in power, even if a particular Democrat is a little more moderate or conservative than I am.

It's after he sleeps it off and when he sobers up and tries to think and perform as a Congressman that he's particularly toxic.

While mocking Boehner maybe we are taking our eyes off the balls and the real problem, the enablers.

Because you see, turning off criticism means turning off a very important part of the brain's ability to get through the day.

If we had to accept everything we'd be frozen in cognitive dissonance. It's -SO-much easier to simply say a DUer is fucked up and disloyal.
