American Crossroads is out with a new web ad today that casts President Barack Obama as a Hollywood celebrity and features clips of him on Jimmy Fallon, drinking beer, criticizing Kanye West and killing a fly with his bare hand.
The ad is reminisent of a 2008 John McCain ad that featured Obama and Paris Hilton.

But I don't blame the president for not having a girlfriend at this time.

...it doesn't always work. From the OP:
"The ad is reminisent of a 2008 John McCain ad that featured Obama and Paris Hilton."
That said, the ad is so stupid, I can actually see this backfiring on Rove.

(28,347 posts)Making Snide Comments About Everyone Else."

ABC News Christianne Klein reports that at a breakfast with Republican insiders at the Capitol Hill Club this morning, former White House senior aide Karl Rove referred to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, as "coolly arrogant."
"Even if you never met him, you know this guy," Rove said, per Christianne Klein. "Hes the guy at the country club with the beautiful date, holding a martini and a cigarette that stands against the wall and makes snide comments about everyone who passes by."
Rove said Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., "needs to come right at him." He referred to the latest Newsweek poll showing Obama with a 15-point lead over McCain as nonsense, though he used a more scatological synonym. Rove said he was heading over to the White House for lunch and a chat with the President, Klein reports.

In Game Change it tells that Valerie Jarrett forwarded an email with the "I got this -- chill the fuck out" to Obama. He responded, "see?"

(32,086 posts)The guy from the country club crowd, who has made a career of making snide comments about other people. And, his buddy, the Mittster, epitomizes that, as well--in spades. Well, except for the "beautiful date" part.

Yes Republicans have lost their minds. I think it is intended as some kind of pre-emptive strike to try to distract from Romney's actual billionaire robber baron status.
