John Dingell Learns About Teabagging: 'It's funny and I'm going to keep using it.'

John Dingell Learns About Teabagging
One more tidbit from Do Not Ask What Good We Do by Robert Draper, courtesy of the Daily Beast:

"John Dingell is the longest currently-serving member of Congress (and the third longest-serving ever). The acerbic 85-year-old Michigan Democrat had long been contemptuous of Tea Partiers. He found them unruly and difficult to get along with. Dingell tended to refer to them as 'teabaggers,' a phrase that has an alternate sexual meaning. This normally wouldn't have been a problem in the hall of Congress, but when Dingell was booked to appear on The Daily Show with John Stewart, his staff felt the need to finally warn and educate him. When his chief of staff shared the other meaning of 'teabagger' with Dingell, the Congressman went through three different stages of reaction. At first, he said 'hah,' then said 'that's disgusting,' and finally the octogenarian congressman reached the plain of acceptance and said, 'It's funny and I'm going to keep using it.'"

Because it's funny and terribly pejorative, especially when you consider what sexual prudes and prisses they are!

BESIDES:::::
I will call them whatever I damn well feel like calling them. Until/unless their side stops calling us "the Democrat Party."

I seem to recall members of the Tea Party calling themselves (affectionately) "TeaBaggers."

So now they get upset when others use this term in referring to them?

Maybe if one of the earliest "TeaBaggers" had conducted a simple 30-second search on Google, they would have save themselves a lot of grief.

First, it's what they originally named themselves. Second, since one of them finally went to Urban Dictionary to find out why we were snickering at them and spread the word, they hate it.

Pissing off the right people is one of my life projects.

his reaction when he finds out the meaning of Rick Santorum's last name. Hope someone has the nitro tablets handy.

I too enjoy many a laugh at the expense of RW ignorant fools, but then I am easily amused.

Well, when I was born, it was prior to his House of Reps service. But when I graduated from HS in 1966 he was my rep, and for over a decade before then.
