Texas Cops Jail Woman For ‘Walking Without A License’

Charges for driving without license and registration… while walking.

A woman in Hamlin, Texas is fighting charges of driving without a license and expired registration after she was arrested and jailed by cops while WALKING home with groceries.

Wendy Robins is appealing for help with her case as she fears the police department is pursuing a vendetta against her by refusing to drop the charges.

The charges stem from the incident which took place in November. Ms Robins says she was minding her own business walking home from the local store when she was physically accosted by an officer.

Why do feel compelled to cast aspersions onto the victim of bully-cop harassment?

Just wondering.

If I ever set foot in Texas it will only be on a round trip-flight in/out of Austin

if this lady's version of the facts is true. It doesn't inspire me to visit Texas, although I had that aversion to the state already after having previously spent time there.

Only one side of the story is being told here, and it raises some red flags. She never says where her car in fact was. She never says she walked TO the store.

Hamlin has around 2200 residents in a 5 square mile area. I'm just guessing, but the cop and the woman were known to each other. The cop sees her car in the store parking lot and runs the plates, determines it has an expired registration and waits for her. She sees the cop and decides to walk. The cop pulls her over. She's not really being charged for "walking" -- she's being charged for driving the car to the store.

Maybe that's not what happened, but the story, told only from the ticketed woman's perspective, seems incomplete.

lot because their tabs were expired. Must have been a slow day. But he probably knew her and didn't like her so he went the extra mile. And just because her car was in the parking lot, doesn't prove she drove it there.
