question everything

News, what news?

I get the news the old fashion way: reading print newspapers and watching TV - networks and cable. And, on occasions, DU LBN.

Thus, it was not until the next day that I read about Ukraine withdrew from Donetsk airport. Not a word about it on NBC News - the one that we watched that day. Not on CNN or MSNBC. (Should have gone to Aljazeera.)

But oh, so much about that hot air encased in leather and shoelaces.

And then I realized: modern day gladiators. Who cars about news? real news? national and international? Except for the occasional beheading and the nor’easters.

Otherwise, it is football, basketball, hockey, baseball, whatever.

And when we talk about income inequality, we never talk about teachers and coaches. In high schools and in colleges. We never talk about healthcare providers and CEOs of insurance companies.

Sigh.

Will be interesting if this evening news will mention the elections.

They are still talking about football and the "upcoming" storm in the east coast.

It was not for Cable or subscription networks.. Most all propaganda shows are subscription based. There are still a few right wing broadcast shows such as Rush Limbaugh, though.

The story was covered by CBS evening news on Friday, as was the bus attack which happened shortly after.
