These Men Freak Out When They Discover The Women They Are Harassing Are Their Moms in Disguise

Street harassment is something that happens to women all over the globe. It may begin to occur a lot less in Lima, Peru after an extremely creative Public Service Announcement, which was sponsored by Everlast aired. The video shows what happens when men harass an attractive woman in the street, only to soon find out that the woman is in fact their own mother in disguise. The results are nothing short of hilarious. The video is called Harassing Your Mother.

The host of the video starts out by saying:

“7 out of 10 women are sexually harassed on the streets of Lima, Peru. Men who do it think it is a minor offense. Let’s show them that they are wrong.”

They find “repeating offenders” who harass women on the streets, then proceed to get in contact with their mothers. The moms then get a makeover that makes then look fabulous and not immediately recognizable.

The first man in the video calls out to a woman that he does not know is actually his mother saying (at least according to the translation):

“Tasty panties!”

The mother then turns around and walks up to her son. The realization that he just catcalled his own mother dawns on him as he says, “Mama?”

strangers. to extend on what you are talking about. not only do they get pissed if a man does that to their woman, BUT.... they do not do it to the girls and women that are with men. cause out of respect of that man, she is already owned and he does not want to step on the mans toes.

at every point, it is fuck the girl or woman.

and i include girl, cause this begins for our girls at about 12. and it does not end.

someone stated in this thread didnt happen in the past. such ignorant and uninformed thinking. any given time we have these threads, tons of women discuss our experience, starting at a very young age.

It's also very sad that they won't admit their error. This behavior is so firmly entrenched in society that they cannot get away from it, even when it involves their mothers.

When I was younger (in the 70s), I had my share of harassment. It was degrading and scary. I sometimes wondered how the harassers would feel if someone did it to their mothers or sisters or what their own family members would feel knowing their son or brother was treating women that way. Now we know.

This video makes me smile. Thanks for posting it.

I had to take the bus everywhere in San Antonio and even with my children with me, I'd still get badly harassed, and I have to admit, the worse offenders were my fellow Latinos. Ironically, considering the clip we just watched, I'd sometimes yell back at them, "I know your mother, pinche culero!" Not that it ever helped. Acknowledging them in any way just made it worse. The street harassment seems to have disappeared for the most part these last decades. I never hear young girls being cat-called and wolf-whistled at the way women were back in those days.

walking thru the door, and i got a whistle.

i am old, but they could not tell from my backside. my teenage son with me got to hear the repetitive bullshit i have had for a lifetime.

handful of months ago, two young men in a truck at a stop sign. i am turning in front of them and one leans out and yells... i love you.

again. old here.

i may not get it as much being older, but, that does not seem to stop it either. i think the fools. mouthing off before they even realize i could be their mother.

i do not see it lessening. as a matter of fact, i feel a darker, greasy, smelly underbelly to it all today, that i did not feel in the past.

my niece, even at 11 getting boobs, thinking she was a kid, god forbid, was outside playing in the sprinklers with my sons 9 and 7. i happen ot look out the window to see a truck, with two young men slow down, slow down to almost a creepy stop, watching my niece. i started heading out the door to see them pull in the neighbors driveway, to turn around to take another look. by the time they got to my niece again, i was out there. they took off.

what was my niece thinking she was a kid and could still play in the sprinklers with her two younger cousins. seeing how she started developing early.

And there will always be lowlifes who never got the memo, especially if they're posturing with friends or if they're charged with testosterone after heavy drinking. And children, even pre-pubescent children, are to be monitored from actual sexual predators. In my 50s, I've noticed that the only real sexual harassment I've gotten has mostly been in subtle hints for assignations, especially now that it's become known my husband has Alzheimer's. But, I've become very reclusive, rarely going many places besides doctor appointments with my husband, an occasional charity event or visiting my grandchildren at their homes.

Sun Jan 25, 2015, 12:38 PM
Jan 2015

that "the majority of men probably don't behave that way." A significant percentage of men DO behave this way, and it's time to acknowledge and address this reality.

I have been harassed and/or abused by men the majority of my 59 years on this planet. I have advocated for hundreds of women who have been abused and harassed by men. A brief perusal of the literature on the battered women's movement reveals a frightening percentage of women being abused by men (about a third, and this is widely believed to be an under-reported crime).

Crimes against women are NOT committed by a "small" percentage of men. The featured video cites that 70% of women in Lima, Peru experience street harassment. What percentage of men do YOU think are willing to harass women on OUR streets?

Until men start to shun their peers who rape, abuse, harass or otherwise disrespect women, we will NEVER see a sea change in the patriarchal precepts that tell men they are the superior gender and women that they exist for the pleasure of men.

It's probably happened throughout history, but know for myself it was rampant in the 60's and 70's when I didn't have a car and walked or rode bikes everywhere in the city. I'd always have to change, put on a high necked top and go from shorts to jeans, mini dress to maxi dress, or I'd pay the price. Even completely covered up from neck to toes, I'd still get harassed sometimes, but when I went somewhere downtown quickly, without thinking about what i was wearing, oh Lord did I pay the price in embarrassment and getting hit on. One time a guy grabbed me and was dragging me to his car, while I was screaming, and trying to pull away. Luckily there was a good cop around who pulled him off at gunpoint and cuffed him. I decided that my safety and peace of mind was more important than not adding to pollution so got a car the next day. This was in San Jose California in 1971

I have been harassed for being gay and Jewish. I have had African-American friends harassed. I have seen people in wheelchairs ridiculed. Of course, I have also seen women catcalled. The difference? All of the aforementioned examples, except for the catcalls against women, are almost always universally condemned. When it comes to women, the harassment is excused or minimized in ways that no other group faces! "Smile!" "You are so pretty!" or whistling are seen as "non-offensive", even complementary. Why is a stranger commenting on your state of being or how you look relevant? The more offensive calls are sometimes condemned, but I have even seen those excused as being "first world problems." It isn't a 'first world problem' when you are a second class citizen!

The problem is more than a few people lack sympathy, and definitely have no concept of empathy.

When I was a young man I appreciated an attractive woman as much as the next fella. In fact I still do. But I would never attempt to make a lewd comment to a stranger.

1. As a male, I never had this happen to me. Therefore, it is not a problem for women.

2. If we can't harass women on the street, then how are we supposed to meet women?

3. I never do this to women, so this video is offensive to me! Waaaaah!1!!

4. Two years ago, this woman gave me unwanted sexual attention. Therefore, I am a great source of information for street harassment, and you whiny feminists are all exaggerating! Women do this all of the time too!

5. I wish women would compliment me on the street!

6. They were obviously dressed like they wanted attention. You can't blame the men for their behavior. They're just guys being guys!

7. If you're not a street harasser, then you're probably a spineless 'nice guy!' There's no in-between! Besides, women love being harassed anyways!

Just in case:

you are right on what you posted btw, and the sarcasm? meh, not thinking that is the right word. cause really, you simply identified all the comments women and girls hear, all their lives.

that being said. thinking this thru. from my perspective as a woman.

what this really is, is men yelling to me, out of the blue, whether their wanker is soft and shriveled (cause i do not meet their dick criteria), or standing at attention cause i am hot.

that is where i bottomline it.

it has nothing to do with me. i am going thru my day.

just a man, telling me about his dick one way or another.

"why isnt (sic) this a free speech issue?"

Which government is attempting to suppress this, and denying these males their god-given right to harass women?

Or do you simply believe that when confronted with the consequences and counter-opinions of their own speech, it then, and only then becomes an issue of free speech (which would be rather sophomoric to entertain, yes?)?

harassment of this type in my youth, I'm confident that my adult sons have NEVER, and WILL never, treat women like this.

If there is one thing I've done right in my life, it's leaving my sons with a clear set of values that includes respect and empathy for others.

Whether this was real or staged, pointing out the hypocrisy in how some treat female family as opposed to the rest of the female population can't hurt.
