Do you know any Republicans who talk a good game but when the rubber meets the road in November you know damn well they are voting for President Obama? I know quite a few of them who talk using one right wing talking point after another trying to act like, "true conservatives", but I am just about convinced some of them won't be voting for Romney. I mean I don't know for sure, because I won't be going into the voting booth with any of them but there are little tip offs when they talk. Lot of times it is more what they don't say than what they do say. Or even how they say it.
Anyone else know any Republicans you have thought were in this group?

(4,711 posts)Seems like a more natural home for the 'baggers anyway. A platform full of hatred and unmitigated derp.

(2,529 posts)I've never heard about the Constitution Party, but I can see a scenario where if Mitts starts turning too much to the center for the teahaddist's tastes, he might set off an exodus of disgruntled true believers. At the core, some of them must be true enough to their principles to believe that they want ideology over "anyone but Obama." Thanks for the reference. I'll read about them.

(1,068 posts)I've written about this before, but the math is simple and will achieve your poll's effective goal much faster.
If Ron Paul runs as 3rd party, he will get most of the bagger's votes away from Romney and President Obama wins with as little as 38% of the popular vote.

(20,851 posts)When the economy is ok and people are generally working or their 401K is going up then they tend to buy the kool aid. When things are truly at their worst, they sometimes say screw it and vote for Democrats. At least the conservatives I know. I think because Obama hasn't been the total disaster they say he has, they are actually more likely to vote for a total disaster like Romney. Because Clinton did such a good job on the economy, it was amazing how many people were ok to totally switch economic philosophy and vote for Bush twice. There is something to comfort breeding complacency at least among conservative leaning voters.
