Five examples of true statements regularly used as code for false statements.

1: Zionists control America.
Why it's true: Barack Obama is a zionist; Joe Biden is a zionist; virtually all the members of the Senate and Congress are zionists; there are virtually no anti-zionist voices in mainstream American political discourse.
What it's used as a code for: Jews control America.

2: Not all rape is real/legitimate rape.
Why it's true: in some jurisdictions, teenagers experimenting together are both technically guilty of rape. This is why registers and blanket statements about sex offenders and the like make me twitchy.
What it's used as a code for: both "Having sex with someone without their consent is not always wrong" and "a high fraction of accusations of rape are lies".

3: Black-on-black crime is a serious problem.
Why it's true: it absolutely is.
What it's used as a code for: Discrimination against black people by white people is not a serious problem.

4: Violence is a predictable consequence of insulting religion.
Why it's true: it often is, especially where Islam is concerned.
What it's used as a code for: It's wrong to insult religion, and if people react violently to your doing so then you are to blame.

5: "Both political parties indulge in this"; "There are people of all races who do this"; "Both sides in this war have committed crimes" and similar statements
Why it's often true: often they do.
What it's used as a code for: Both parties indulge in this *to the same extent*, so you shouldn't try to distinguish between them on it or draw a connection between it and one party (and mutatis mutandis for the other examples).

"Mohammed was a paedophile" is entirely true, at least by modern definitions of the word; it's usually used as a code for "Mohammed was a child paedophile, and therefore all Muslims are bad people and we should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity".

Fundamentalists of all flavors are frequently guilty of civil war, terrorism, violent crimes, rape, and many sickening forms of child abuse.

All the victims of religious violence against women and children I know ( and have known ) were victims of Christian Fundamentalists of various flavors.

The Irish "troubles" were no fun either.

The people of Islam I know tend to be gentle and are often escapees of violence or discrimination in their homelands.

I can't blame them. That's how most of my ancestors ended up in the U.S.A.. They were not seeking wonderful Horatio Alger pulling-themselves-up-by-their-bootstraps-opportunity, they were skipping out on wars, civil unrest, or the hangman.
