WASHINGTON -- House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) appeared to have pulled off a masterful political victory against the Obama administration Wednesday when he revealed that he had invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress on the dangers of the administration's negotiations with Iran.
Coming a day after President Barack Obama threatened to veto new Iran-related sanctions legislation that he said could harm the negotiations, Boehner's move looked like a smart way to reinforce support for such bills -- a priority for the Republican-led Congress -- by showing that the U.S.'s top ally in the region supported them.
Then things started to fall apart.

(32,886 posts)If I were in charge over there, I would make sure a final deal is cut with Obama in the next 8 months before this becomes part of the 2016 Presidential campaign.
I am 99% sure we retain the White House, but if we don't we will have a Republican President and a Republican congress and they will definitely go to war with Iran and remove the current government there.

(29,322 posts)These oil sanctions to get them to give up the nukes now all-of-sudden lifting the sanctions becomes important, now considering Iran is harmed by the low prices with a cap on exports there is probably behind the scenes strategy going on which could be OK twist their arm now to give up the nukes because of the deficits or they want the market to be flooded (or the countries that are allowed to export from Iran want more Iranian oil) with Iranian oil or a little of both. Oil is why we're talking about this now.
Iranians probably has a good idea what is at stake when it comes to US foreign policy & Iranian oil. I don't think it matters much since the mainstream leaders want to save face to the US & Israel, though Saudi & the US flooding the market harms Iran economically so if they wanted to use a nuke, now would be the best time.
Don't mind me, I'm just spit-balling as I'm trying to figure this whole thing out. Funny, the party of "drill, baby, drill" can't stand the President who played a crucial role in flooding the global supply of oil. (I think this is what it is really about from the administration, everything else is for the cameras).
