All I've heard all morning are conservative responses and their analysis of an address that hasn't even been delivered yet.
Even that eternal d-bag Grover Norquist came out of his septic tank long enough to pop off about how wrong the President is.

(86,647 posts)Grover... he's like Beetlejuice (character in the movie)... say "tax increase" three times and he slithers out of his cesspool. And they always forget to send him back!

(62,276 posts)Might as well just watch and enjoy and make up your own mind. The president won't get credit for shit.

(1,596 posts)I can easily start 19 threads now knowing what the same abusive and hammerdumb headlines we will see this evening from the regulars.

(62,276 posts)But I think I am going to stay away. When Obama acted on Cuba the hate mongers here were too much.
Obama's speech tonight should be laying the groundwork for the future of the democratic party. One year the republicans will obstruct what he says tonight. When the primaries happen the difference between the parties will be absolute and clear.

Politics is their outlet to be perpetually bitter. Nothing more, nothing less.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)Nevermind nothing whatsoever he says tonight will be new.
The pathetic part is when you say that he's been saying the same stuff, they just twist it and ask why it wasn't more visible, etc.
The word for tonight is "Kabuki theater." It will be everywhere.
The only thing that could change the tone is if the republicans act nasty, refuse to clap at basic progress, turn their backs, basically blow it, otherwise the continuously bitter will shit on the president.

2-How many standing ovations will there be?
3- What little buttons will the opposition party be wearing tonite?
It's all acting, and terrible acting at that, whomever the president happens to be.

(65,616 posts)That move was awesome I enjoyed talking to DUers about it all day long. True there were some Third Way crybabies that huffed and puffed, but I'm not one to run from fake progressives. I'd rather stay here and enjoy myself while watching them flee like cowards over normalizing trade with Cuba.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)Interesting that you believe it was the Third Way with regards to Cuba, actually. Didn't consider that angle. Shit on Obama for every good thing so people embrace the Third Way?
Rex
(65,616 posts)Interesting that is all you can talk about. But it's not like you are stirring up the shit - no sir.
Obama is not Third Way, it is a think tank of neoliberal bankers. Nice try.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)Give it time. There will be post after post of distortion and distraction.
You are the one who claimed that the bashers of Obama's Cuba policy were Third Way people you ignored. That was not what I saw.
Rex
(65,616 posts)Sorry, but I am not responsible for other people. Money grubbing libertarians hate this POTUS as much as their neocon brethren. Hence, Third Way...and if you do not know what I am talking about you can just ask.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)It's just a coincidence the most bashing threads happen to come out whenever Obama does something good.
Fortunately the "piece of shit used car salesman," an enduring term coined by a DUer will set the foundation for democrats holding power for the next 24 years tonight, and "desperately disillusioned Obama supporters" will be shown correct.
Because we actually get out there and get the job done. And that's why I'm done with DU for the bought.
Rex
(65,616 posts)Seriously, I don't give that shit the time of day. And don't get all self-righteous with me about doing your part for the party - so do I every election cycle.
Go ahead and feed on that garbage, from your signature it would seem we are both on the same side and want a well regulated market. Fair trade, not free trade. The difference is I don't let the haters get to me.
Haters gonna hate, no need to stir up shit with people that vote 90% of the time for the candidate. Take up issue with people that put money over party and principle, if that is what it seems you are saying.
Obama is not a POS used car salesman, he is the best POTUS in my lifetime! Have a great evening, this place gets you too charged up.

(1,305 posts)One side is saying he's going too far and they're pissed off more than they've ever been pissed.
One side is saying it's what they want to hear, but for whatever reason they're still pissed.
And sane, average everyday Americans are finally waking up and seeing how much this President has done for them. The economy is getting better and his approval rating is soaring. It will be in the high 50s before he leaves office. But the bitter few will keep singing their same, trite tunes while the rest of us enjoy the fruits of this presidency.

It chronicles the BS democrats had to deal with and I think Obama had much greater hurdles. In the end I see tonight as a foundation.
