"I wish you had just asked Valerie Jarrett about the President's strategy for defeating ISIS, but you aren't going to HEAR it, because there ISN'T ONE! Heh heh heh!"
Looks like Andrea Greenspan decided to give McCain the opportunity to offer the "Republican rebuttal" BEFORE the SOTU airs.
DAMNED LIBERAL MEDIA!
Just now on MSNBC, so no link.

(23,946 posts)pathetically attention needy.
Not asking him why he was fucking around with a prison nation is what he counts on, no challenge from the American media...a healthy dose of real journalists from Europe doing, you know, journalism, would be as revealing as it has been for Fox and Jindal.
The American media does not hire journalists any more, they hire PR specialists.
PS: McCain is lying again.

(5,018 posts)Forget it, John.
I wont be surprised if Clint Eastwood makes a movie about this assholes life and glorifies him somehow.
BTW, the word in DC about John is he is a spoiled baby, very demanding, etc.
I heard it from a talking head who works there.

(46,416 posts)He was referring to the ongoing counterterror operation there against AQ, and saying that was sort of our model for ISIS--no large American ground presence, just us killing the terrorists with the aid of a cooperative government. Yemen's political/tribal problems are not our doing, we're not responsible for their government, we never were. We're just trying to keep them from being a haven for AQ, that's it, end of story. So Johnny Mac is a fucking liar.

There is nothing successful going on in Yemen including the "war" on al Qaeda

(46,416 posts)we have been killing a number of AQ in Yemen for years with no American troop losses (at least not off the top of my head) and with the cooperation of the Yemeni government. That equals a successful strategy--just because the job isn't finished and they haven't been totally eradicated (if that ever happens) doesn't mean it wasn't the right way to do it. The model holds up. The coup in Yemen will INTERFERE with our efforts. It's not happening BECAUSE of our efforts, we are not responsible for their Sunni/Shia battles (unlike in Iraq) and it's not Sunni insurgents who are taking over.

(50,279 posts)McCain is never, ever, ever going to get over losing the 2008 election. When asked what he would do he went into mealy-mouth mode and never hinted at a solution to the problem. That's about all Republicans are good for: mealy mouthing.
