As he sizes up the race for U.S. Senate, former L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa sought advice from his successor, Eric Garcetti, during a dinner last Thursday, according to two sources.
Villaraigosa has been consulting widely as he decides whether to jump into the race to succeed Sen. Barbara Boxer, who announced her retirement on Jan. 8.
Garcetti quickly took himself out of the running for the seat, and since then he has been hinting that Villaraigosa should run.
"I hope somebody from Los Angeles does run," Garcetti said on KABC-TV.

(5,299 posts)On an early election with no other issues, very soon after the Presidential election, with 51% of a turnout of about 10% of eligible voters in a voting populace of about 3 million.
He was a lousy mayor, tried to assume control of the school district (and its funds), got the police out raising revenue by issuing bogus tickets (which is part of why I now live in Oregon), and tried to turn the federally-funded carpool lanes into a subscriber service.
I wouldn't vote for him for dog-catcher. I'm almost tempted to move back long-enough to vote against him again.
