I mean in terms of the Oscars..I know who the guy was. Used to drive down the road named for him.

(111,277 posts)because more people are going to want to see why movie fans are so angry about seeing the film snubbed so completely.

(28,866 posts)I understand it's a great film.
Still, being snubbed by the academy was wrong.

(14,449 posts)I saw it this afternoon and it was excellent. Well deserved Oscar noms. The theater had sold out shows all yesterday and this evening. I was so lucky to get tickets for 2 o'clock showing. We had to sit second row but better then nothing. Good luck to all DUers in getting into the movie. Just be patient cuz American Sniper is a worthwhile watch.

(30,884 posts)The honorable thing to do would have been to address it head on rather than present Kyle as an heroic icon.

(14,449 posts)Chris Kyle did more good then bad...if anything bad at all. I haven't heard anything.
Gormy Cuss
(30,884 posts)and other "heroic" lies about himself have been exposed too. Just google it.

(14,449 posts)This great Sailor who had survived four tours in Afghanistan was murdered in his hometown....sickening indeed. I have never been to a movie where the entire group left very somber and quiet. You still may have a chance to see it tonight if it is not sold out. Good luck.....always tomorrow so don't despair.

(60,010 posts)When King and his group are shown going to Selma, that is not the Dallas County Courthouse on the screen.
Most of the filming was in Georgia.
The Selma bridge scenes were in Ala. and some scenes in Montgomery.
The courthouse in the early part of the movie is quite similar to another movie courthouse, the one in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Stellar
(5,644 posts)But then...how do they punish the academy? Is that the point? LOL, I'm confused. Sorry.

(26,582 posts)It's not the people nominated's fault that only white people were nominated.
Douglas Carpenter
(20,226 posts)necessarily some racist conspiracy? I don't think there were any Muslim nominees. Was that an intentional slight against Muslims?

(9,350 posts)I have only seen Selma so I cannot say whether or not he truly deserved to be nominated abone the other actors; however, he, in my opinion, gave a great performance. It seemed wor thy of at least an Oscar nomination. I would also say the director of Selma, Ava DuVarney did a good job directories the film. I think she could have been given an Oscar nod.

(17,609 posts)Bradley Cooper their hero..and if he loses they be all over the television and internet shouting about how he was robbed. Why have an Oscar show when they already know the outcome. Oscars,no thanks.
