The new GOP meme is only those who can work will eat. That is the message behind the SSDI cuts. So if you are disabled you must justify our existence by providing something useful to society. You must work for your supper.
These bastards will never quit their evil. The bottom line is that the GOP is an economic terrorist organization. The real truth about people on SSDI is they can't work because they are unable to and even if they could employers don't want damaged goods.

(9,796 posts)Here (UK), the system assumes from the outset that your doctor is a liar when he classifies you as unfit for work. Instead, you're sent for an assessment administered by a company incentivized to find you fit regardless of the circumstances and then either classified fit for work, fit for "work related activity" (which means make-them-do-something busywork) or unfit. The only reason I'm classified as unfit is because the last time I was up for assessment, my SO and doctor wrote that they feared for my life if I was placed in one of the other categories.

(3,732 posts)I am registered with Social Services, Department of Rehabilitation, and the Center for Independent Living, and I don't see any automatic offer of a job if a person wants or is looking for one. A person is still subjected to the eternal "job hunt" process where they have to be chosen by an employer.
It's not you don't work, you don't eat.
You only eat if selected by a hiring manager (who likes people like themselves).
