Russia bans transexual and transgender people from driving

Russia has listed transsexual and transgender people among those who will no longer qualify for driving licences.

Fetishism, exhibitionism and voyeurism are also included as "mental disorders" now barring people from driving.

The government says it is tightening medical controls for drivers because Russia has too many road accidents.

"Pathological" gambling and compulsive stealing are also on the list. Russian psychiatrists and human rights lawyers have condemned the move.

I think the horrible driving in Russia probably has more to do with the astronomical cases of alcohol addiction than anything else. We had a young man from Czech Republic stay with us for a year, he told us of how much he drank at home and how many road accidents there were - it was shocking to hear how bad it was. Russia is very similar, imo.

What a stupid, ignorant law.

Nvm, here it is:

These nations, including Russia, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Ecuador have my gratitude and respect for being the first to stand against human rights violations carried out by the powerful rather than the powerless.

quite a large amount of folks.

They are setting up a system where they can deny licenses to just about anyone and engage in repression against just about anyone by labeling them one of these things.

11. You have to wonder why he stopped there with that list. Why not add North Korea and make it complete

Hmmm...how long until the pogroms? How many will defend them should they come by claiming they aren't what they are?
