Back in late '89, I was teaching at a middle school in Manhattan with a diverse student body. We arranged for a special showing of Glory, a story of the black infantries that fought for the Union during the Civil War, w/ Matthew Broderick, Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman, and Cary Elwes.

It was a great event. The students were strongly moved by the presentation. It is still a great movie.
