In my younger years, there was a shooting on the El train

in Chicago. This is back in the late 80's; there are likely others here who remember this anecdote.

Some thug with a gun held up a subway car, on the train terminating in Oak Park. He went around demanding valuables. Eventually, he got to a young professional, and demand his valuables, as well. The young man stood up and said, 'no, you'll have to shoot me.' So the thug shot him dead.

What we then have is a dead man with valuables, a thug who was prosecuted for murder (and punished), and a real life example of how foolish it can be to be a hero.

Nobody at that paper deserved ANY of this violence. The perpetrators should be apprehended, prosecuted, and punished.

Life will go on. Muslims will continue being muslims, journalists journalists, French people French, etc.
