How Christie's Cowboys hug could turn into an ethics problem

Washington (CNN)Chris Christie's decision to accept a plane ride and a box seat at Sunday's Dallas Cowboys game has national Democrats screaming for an ethics investigation and even some Republicans questioning the New Jersey governor's judgment.

Christie, a lifelong Cowboys fan, said through a spokesman that team owner Jerry Jones paid for the ticket and transportation to the game. The spokesman said Monday that the governor's code of conduct allows Christie to accept gifts "from relatives or personal friends that are paid for with personal funds."

Why would a big state governor with White House ambitions accept lavish gifts from a wealthy patron? That's a question Virginia's former Gov. Bob McDonnell will probably be asking himself as he heads to prison Feb. 9 after being handed a two-year sentence for public corruption conviction on Tuesday. McDonnell accepted cash and gifts from a wealthy businessman with interests in his state.

In the case of Christie and his Cowboys, there's no evidence of any wrongdoing. But the revelation Tuesday that the Cowboys own part of a company that won a Port Authority of New York and New Jersey contract, which was endorsed by Christie and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, raised questions about a possible quid-pro-quo.

The Sandy money, the bridge, this, etc.

Endless examples if someone could get access,I am sure.

But will it matter to the assholes on the right?

I think they dont care, AT ALL and in fact they see him as not mean enough, too liberal, etc.

I'm not a Cowboys or Christie fan, but I don't think there is anything to this. He is a Cowboys fan. If he wasn't it might be something different.

Making an issue of this distracts from legitimate an serious ethics issues (Sandy money, bridge, etc.).

this is a very big deal. This has nothing to do with what team he roots for, who he hugged or how he attempted to jump up and down. There are millions of Cowboy fans. They weren't all sitting in the owner's box. They weren't all flown down on the owner's jet. They didn't all get access to the field to meet the team. Only one did. Chris Christie. This is about a public official accepting a gift with a value in the tens of thousands of dollars (do the math and you'll see it adds up quickly) from a man who did business with an agency that Christie has influence over-the Port Authority of NY & NJ. Christie accepted a gift that was only available to him via his elected position and certainly has the appearance of a quid pro quo or even an attempt to gain greater influence over him in the future. These aren't best buddies. These aren't old friends. This is an elected official taking a very expensive gift from a business man looking to gain influence. The former governor of Virginia just went to federal prison today for arguably less.

To show Jerry's not all work, he also has an interest in young people:

It's tasteless to call women "easy", especially when the one on the left accused him of sexual assault. You should use something else to make fun of Jerry Jones.

It's still a tasteless meme. 1. calling women "easy" and 2. one the ladies pictured accused him of sexual assault.

You can find many other thing to use to make fun of Jerry Jones.

I don't care about the stupid deadspin link. I know where the picture came from. You are the one that posted the meme on DU not Jerry Jones. The meme is tasteless. It calls women easy (which is offensive) and one of the ladies called "easy" accused Jerry Jones of sexual assault on the same night that photo was taken.

I don't even really care for Jerry Jones and I drive by Cowboys Stadium every fucking day. Make fun of him all you want, but that specific meme that you posted is tasteless.

Here's a link to video of his Jerry's son getting off a Cowboys Party Bus filled with young women, along with the director of NFL Officiating, Dean Blandino:

The video shows what kind of people hang out with Jerry's son. Please don't blame me for what they do.

It's a tasteless meme. YOU posted the meme that calls two women "easy" (a synonym for sluts). And one of the women pictured accused Jerry Jones of sexual assaulting her the same night that photo was taken.

So again, YOU, posted a meme that calls a woman that was potentially sexually assaulted later that same evening "easy". That's why it's tasteless.

I don't care who took the photo. I don't care who Jerry Jones hangs out with. I don't care if there was a conspiracy for the refs to let Dallas win Sunday. I don't care if Jerry Jones' son hangs out with refs.

I was trying to be polite in my first post so that maybe you'd think twice about it and replace it with some other actually funny meme about Jerry.

And I'm done with this exchange. Adios.

This is just one other of his questionable dealing as governor.

His problem is greater with the visual left behind. And that is one big behind!
