#BREAKING: Tanisha Anderson's death ruled homicide by Medical Examiner http://5.wews.com/GHKOv
11:08 AM - 2 Jan 2015
Police have said that Anderson began to struggle with officers who were attempting to escort her to a police car, before she suddenly and inexplicably became limp. The woman’s family, however, told Northeast Ohio Media Group that an officer performed a “takedown move” on Anderson, roughly wrestling with the woman before putting his knee on her back as she lay prone on the ground.

According to Friday’s medical examiner’s office report, Anderson suffered a “sudden death associated with physical restraint,” per WKYC-TV.

In the months since her death, Anderson has become a symbol in the ongoing conversation about police brutality in America, sparked last year by the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner and others.

On Friday, Anderson’s family released a statement “demand[ing] justice for Tanisha, a thorough criminal investigation and an independent prosecutor that results in accountability by the police officers and the Cleveland Police Department,” per WOIO.

Just last month, the Justice Department released a report accusing the Cleveland police of using excessive or unnecessary force at a “significant rate,” per CNN. The report -- the result of a two-year investigation -- added that officers were also found to have used excessive force on those "who are mentally ill or in crisis.”

unless absolutely in self defense, you have NO redeeming qualities whatsoever.

You are one of the lowest life forms - like child molesters and human traffickers.

You prey on the least of these.

Very sad.

Hope the family gets justice for Tanisha

was she overweight? did she move towards the officer? was she armed with a toy gun or a bottle of pills? did she not become totally submissive and obey every command? did she look at the officers cross eyed? Police are very delicate and sensitive, don't you know.

I'm sure she will be found responsible for her own death. Lovely young woman. Too bad she got in the way of a police officer just doing his job...

FAMILY: Cleveland woman reciting 'Lord's Prayer' moments before dying in police custody

Tanisha Anderson died seeking mental health help

CLEVELAND - Family members spoke out Wednesday evening about a 37-year-old Cleveland woman who died in police custody while praying the "Lord's Prayer".

At a meeting with community activists Wednesday evening, family members of Tanisha Anderson also questioned how a 911 call for help could end in tragedy.

Michael Anderson, Tanisha's uncle, said his niece was praying in the moments leading up to her collapse outside the family's home on Ansel Road on Nov. 12.

"She said the "Lord's Prayer", said Anderson, when she expired."

Sources say family members called 911 for mental health and medical assistance for Anderson the night of Nov. 12.

But instead, sources say police used a violent "take down" move and Anderson collapsed and was left on the sidewalk in the cold until an ambulance arrived.

I don't watch the news, but haven't seen anything on facebook. Haven't heard about it on the progressive radio station I listen to.
Unless it is that there have been so many unarmed Black people killed by police that I can't keep up.
It would't make sense to speculate that because she was female, that it generates less attention?
I'm not claiming this, could just be that I missed it.
