Two cops were shot in West Virginia

by a man who drove up to prevent them stopping his son.

Both men are still alive despite the fact that in one of the two vehicles were two dead bodies - victims of murder by the son -apparently from North Carolina.

The two bodies found in the back of a pickup have been identified as a North Carolina couple allegedly shot by a father and son from Texas who went on a multi-state crime spree that ended in the bizarre roadside shooting of two West Virginia police officers.

The rampage unraveled Thursday when the two Lewisburg officers pulled over a white Chevy SUV that allegedly had stolen plates from North Carolina. After stopping the vehicle, a man later claiming to be the first driver's father pulled over nearby in a red pickup, according to N.C. Granville County Sheriff Brindell Wilkins Jr, WRAL-TV reports.

The father then allegedly opened fire on the two officers, injuring both while the driver of the SUV took off. The officers, both listed later in good and stable condition, fired back, hitting the gunman in the leg.

The shooter "went over the hillside and was eventually taken into custody," West Virginia State Police Lt. Michael Baylous said in a news release, WSAZ-TV reports.

They're both still alive and pops was shot in the leg - you see they do shoot folks in the leg outside of movies. Of course they are not African-Americans.

cops are trained to shoot center mass, the largest part of a human body.
During the heat of a gun battle, cops, and soldiers alike, more often miss what they're shooting at.
And I doubt the color of the suspects were foremost in these officer's minds as they were attempting to protect themselves.

It's silly to claim that because somebody was shot in the leg that the leg was the target, or that it can be extrapolated to other situations without knowing the positions of all the shooters, the environment, was the shot to the leg a ricochet, etc.

Wilkins said he knew the Faulkners and described them as wonderful people who were well-known in the community. He believes they were randomly targeted and that the motive was robbery.

Jerome Faulkner was a retired fire chief with the Cornwall Volunteer Fire Department in Oxford. Dora Faulkner was a registered nurse who most recently worked at Central Regional Hospital in Butner.

One of the couple's two sons is a Raleigh firefighter. Both sons were at their parents' house Thursday night, talking to investigators.

Michael Brown was unarmed and trying to get away from the cop right until he tried to surrender.


It's interesting to note that the cop who shot Michael Brown almost certainly was shooting towards him while he was running away - he missed, and who knows if he purposely missed or not? It's chilling to think he could be that calculating in the moment, but it seems possible.

This is what I want to know. Did these guys have prior convictions? There are so many nonviolent people in jails and prisons, they are letting the violent go just to make that Drug War money, and because they know the nonviolent won't hurt them during arrest or while incarcerated.

But when we set the violent free just so we have more room to shake down the nonviolent and imprison them in mass numbers, the nonviolent are locked inside and the violent are running free outside making us all unsafe.

This is backfiring, because now cops have to deal with all the violent assholes who have been set free to make room for pot smokers.

We need a reset of the system.
