GASP! A conservative talk radio show discussed HEALTHY EATING? in FRANCE?

I was listening to the John Batchelor Show for one hour on Saturday night. He had three guests on. One of them was Karen Le Billon, author of the book French Kids Eat Everything: How Our Family Moved to France, Cured Picky Eating, Banned Snacking, and Discovered 10 Simple Rules for Raising Happy, Healthy Eaters. The interview can be heard on this audio file starting at 19 minutes.

I was thinking, wow! This is a program whose flagship station WABC is also the home of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin? A station targeted to those whose political leanings make them dislike that democratic socialist paradise France? Oh yeah, not to mention how that evil socialist MICHELLE OBAMA is using her position as First Lady to arrest parents for taking their children to McDonald's???

But seriously: Batchelor's show is a strictly commentary and interviews, no calls show, and he discusses many non-political topics like history, science, economics, and music. Thus it can't be compared with the other right wing junk shows that WABC has foisted on the nation. I was quite surprised that Batchelor was allowed to discuss this kind of topic given how conservatives see healthy eating as an evil liberal Marxist plot (what the hell is the logic behind opposing universal healthcare and regulations on fast food sales to children?) given that Batchelor's show is on such a station as WABC and even stations that explicitly market themselves as "conservative talk" such as the Salem affiliate in Kansas City, KCMO?

If you go to Batchelor's website you will see plenty of right wing commentary, and he has written for Human Events. However, in a 2004 interview with C-SPAN, he claimed to be a liberal (click 19:24 in timeline). In 2009 he wrote the article "GOP, R.I.P." for Newsweek.

I don't get American TV or radio where I live, so I'm not up on who says what unless I'm sent a clip or a link.
