(8,554 posts)I just drug my SO outdoors for a little walk to the end of the pasture, just to make sure that our boom-happy neighbors didn't ignite anything. They shot off enough fireworks for the Fourth of July, went on forever almost a whole hour (I really don't understand how anyone can afford such things and I don't like fireworks so close, at all).
Anyway, it's really cold out and that was one brisk walk...nineteen on the thermometer, us in our jammies...we practically ran all the way back down (a younger person might not consider what we did was actually running, but it's the fastest I've seen my man move in years, ha!)
You have a safe and happy holiday up there! And have fun with that lens thingamajig, too...looking forward to seeing what it does over in Photography.

(46,436 posts)Someone right here on our street was shooting off the big ones. It's funny, a couple years ago they changed city ordinances to allow fireworks in town on New Year's and Independence Day. That only lasted a year, but I didn't notice any difference in the booms from legal to illegal years. I'm surrounded by scofflaws. LOL.

(31,893 posts)Today is a work day for me, so I slept through midnight in ALL U.S. time zones last night.
Just came back in the house from brooming off the inch or so of fresh, fluffy snow off my car that started falling early this morning. 15 degrees, nice start for the new year - it's been below zero for the last few mornings, so I'm happy for the warm-up.
Have a lovely day and a joyful New Year!

(31,893 posts)You were warmer up there than we were last year too, as I recall. At least we've been spared the polar vortex this year (so far). That was frikkin' brutal.
