No, the response is, "You haven't shown us respect. What makes you think you're even as good as us? The protests continue, even as you mourn."
Two sides, two standards, two monologues.
And for any statement on either side, there are some on the other side that have a good and reasonable come back. There are also those on the other side that are guilty as charged. The two sides rotate speakers to make sure their 'innocent' do the defending and their victims do the alleging. The two monologues aren't constructed to resolve anything but justify themselves and gut the other.
