1. I wonder if you can clear up a little confusion I have regarding ACA.

Can those people in the states that refuse to offer medicaid expansion, go online and sign up for a national program?

6. There is no national program.

The ACA is a state by state program. Even if the relevant state refuses to participate.

If the state refuses to implement the ACA, then the feds implement it on their behalf. But it's still state-by-state.

As for "those people", we're talking about Medicaid expansion. "Those people" can't afford private insurance. That's why they were supposed to get Medicaid. A little like I can go on a web site and look up a $30M mansion, but I can't afford to buy it.

It's a 'do we give a shit about the National Security of our own citizens' issue.

Money trumps American lives. And lack of access to HC in this country caused the deaths of over 500,000 Americans since 9/11.

I call that a National Security issue and any Governor or elected official who refuses live saving treatment for Americans is as much of a threat to them and this country as any outside threat.

Good question.
First I don't disagree with your viewpoint but I was being humorous as I think giving a shit should come before national security as basic as any humanitarian consideration.
What national security means to me.
-We go out of our way never to even get into a war in the first place.
-We work with the rest of the world to eliminate nuclear weapons.
-We do not outspend the rest of the world on our military.
-We review our laws to make them benefit society as a whole.
-We do as much as we can not to incarcerate as many people as possible.
-We eliminate poverty and have a tax system that redistributes wealth more fairly.
-Yes we implement universal single payer health care where no one pulls out money to get treatment or care.
-We really address Climate change and devote a lot of resources to get it under control.
-We would insist on changes to our police force so that unarmed citizens are never shot and racial profiling are a thing of the past.
I could go on and on but here is a sampling - thanks for asking.

and my premium went from $13,000 per year for a family of four to $19,000 this year and $22,000 next.

Plus, I have higher deductibles and co-pays. I shopped the exchanges and found lower premiums but much higher out-of-pocket thresholds. We don't qualify for subsidies either. We're right on the income border which is not rich here in NYC. I've been self-employed for more than thirty years and always provided my own health coverage from the individual market. It was fine until the mid 90s when NYS passed an insurance giveaway law and my premiums tripled the first year. They have risen slowly and steadily since and then really skyrocketed.

I'm happy that people are benefiting, but I'm taking in the shorts like many self employed. Much of it has to do with our local politicians being in the pockets of the insurance cartel. We'll probably be relocating soon.
