Poll: Omaha bucks state’s prevailing sentiment on same-sex marriage

When it comes to gay marriage, Omaha is out of step with the rest of Nebraska.

And when it comes to the rest of Nebraska, the state is out of step with national polls that show a growing acceptance of same-sex marriages.




A majority of Nebraskans — 54 percent — oppose the legalization of gay marriage in the state, according to a World-Herald statewide poll.

In Omaha, however, more people supported than opposed gay marriage: 46 percent in support, 41 percent opposed.
