This probably doesn't sit too well with a number of folks in the NYPD, especially considering their treatment of blacks and Hispanics over the years. The NYPD specifically targets minorities with policies like stop and frisk.

This probably made it easier for them to turn their backs on an official who was overwhelmingly elected by the people.

The NYPD is a fascist organization and they don't care for elections or constitutional rights, especially when it comes to blacks.
