Another Black 18-Year-Old Has Been Killed by Police 2 Miles From Ferguson

http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/318-66/27668-another-black-18-year-old-has-been-killed-by-police-2-miles-from-ferguson

18-year-old Toni Martin was last night shot dead by a police officer in front of a Mobil gas station in the St Louis suburb Berkeley after reportedly threatening him with a gun.

St Louis police spokesman Sgt Brian Schellman said that Martin drew a gun and pointed it at the officer who, "fearing for his life", fired several times.

Police claim Martin's gun has been recovered at the scene.

The gas station at which Martin died is only five miles west of Ferguson, Missouri where a police officer killed black teenager Michael Brown in August - an incident that led to rioting.

Although reports that Martin was armed may separate this case from those of Brown, Eric Garner and Tamir Rice, recent racial tensions in the US led to impromptu anti-police protests.

@Vyan1 @rbw424 the cops are going to be rough on anyone smarting off, fact.

So the Cops are going to Rough Up anyone "Smarting Off" to them? Really?

Apparently not this guy.

Joseph Houseman, a 63-year-old white man who, back in May, stood with a rifle on a street in Kalamazoo, Michigan. When police arrived, he refused to identify himself, grabbed his crotch, flipped them the bird and cursed. They talked him down in an encounter that lasted 40 minutes. Houseman was not arrested. The next day, he got his gun back.

He also, while carrying a loaded weapon while intoxicated, had no ID on him at the time.

it most certainly did look like a gun, probably because it was one.

I drove past the station a few hours ago. It is still secured as was the QT across the street, which was boarded up and there appeared to be work trucks there, so I assume repairs have started.

...reaction to the kid supposedly pointing a gun at someone..

The officer was assigned a body cam and refused to wear it ...

I'm not giving the SLaPD any benefit of the doubt after Wilson, who to this day hasn't filed a damn incident report

... later on the scene..

Witness's are now speaking, the kid was alive for 30 mins but the cops were more worried about the crowd than by calling medics...

This is starting to stink all to high heaven

Because right wingnuts keep adding the #berkeleyprotests hashtag to comment on it, so at first it seemed like some kid had been shot here, yet there was absolutely nothing on the news. It took a couple hours to sort out that the incident had actually occurred in Missouri. The wingunts are still hanging it all over the #berkeleyprotests hashtag, though.

One of which struck Martin and killed him. Martin had a criminal history... assault charges, armed robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. The officer apparently had just asked the men about a robbery that had just occurred when Martin pulled out and pointed a 9mm handgun at that officer that had one round in the chamber and five rounds in the magazine and was shot.

Nevertheless, about 200 to 300 protesters showed up some with explosive devices that were thrown right next to gas pumps and threw bricks and rocks at the officers two of whom were injured and taken to the ER. The QT across the street was set on fire.

More than half of Berkeley's police department is made up of black people including command positions.

... to editing the store surveillance video because " the family didn't need to see that" and I've not heard from one witness at the scene on what the kid had ...

Not only am I not inclined to take the SL area PDs word for it but they're not gaining any browny points by their current communication
