What a great country ! We are a nation of immigrants and descendants of immigrants with numerous holiday traditions. All are welcome. All are great fun. I celebrate Christmas but also do some fun Hanukkah traditions with my family like play some of their songs, make latkes, and play dreidel. Great fun ! Many of the Christmas festivities come from Yule and Solstice which long preceded Christianity. In fact, there is extremely little chance Jesus was born at this time. Most likely around March when that census was taken. Shepherds would not have been out during the rainy, colder December season. The Christians really co-opted Yule/Solstice from the north Europeans to have their Christmas celebration at this time as Yule and Solstice were so popular. Evergreens, feasts, yule logs, candles, etc. were all part of Yule and Solstice.
Still, Jesus was a good person with great things to say about love and peace and helping the poor. And I am very happy to have my Christmas tree, Christmas wreath, Christmas cards and presents, and to sing Christmas carols. And I welcome all the other traditions as well.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS in this season of love, light, and life.
