To summarize:

Berkeley police say officers were originally dispatched to the gas station for a larceny call.

St. Louis County Police spokesman Brian Schellman says a Berkeley officer approached 2 people at the gas station. One of them pulled a handgun, and pointed it at the officer. The officer fired, killing the teen. The second person ran away. Police say a gun was recovered on the dead person at the scene.

A crowd of about 300 people also gathered at the scene. One person tried to set fire to a nearby Quik Trip. Police were quickly able to put out the fire.

The St. Louis County Police Crimes Against Persons unit has been asked to investigate the shooting.

11:12p.m. 2nd call dispatched- advised of incident with suspect description
11:14p.m. officer arrived on scene
11:15p.m.- advised shots had been fired-
11:16p.m. –First assist unit arrived on the scene & Ems was requested by officer’s on the scene. Supervisor arrived on the scene as well
11:17p.m.- EMS was contacted by Berkeley Communications Dispatch

11:28p.m. – Berkeley Fire & Paramedics confirmed Mr. Martin was lifeless- His body was covered.
11:28p.m.- Berkeley Fire & Paramedics contacted Christian North East Hospital. His time of death was declared.
11:35p.m.- Mr. Martin was positively identified by family members
12:40a.m.- Medical Examiner arrived on the scene
2:00a.m.- Body was logged in at the Medical Examiner’s Office

37. I was reading another post on this about the circumstances of this shooting. What went through my

mind while I read the account of the shooting being justified by the police was that it didn't matter one damn thing how it occurred. What mattered was that another young black man has lost his life at the hands of the police. The sadness is that any life is lost.

My mind is in burnout stage right now so I cannot take in the details enough to determine the truth of this one but I mourn the life lost. My prayers are with the victims family and friends.

If one were to believe the police narrative, a young Black man (or child) commits suicide by cop every 28 hours. Some, from clear video evidence, appear to be doing so completely subconsciously. Since were all know there are very few individuals with such low levels of self-preservation skills, the only other conclusion is that the police lie like a rug. So we can wait until all the lies, er, um evidence has come in.

But what is not in any dispute is the absolutely horrific treatment of the suspect turned victim. To allow the suspect to lie there without medical care is, is...I can't think of words.

There can be no other purpose for such an act than to "send a message". We are receiving that message loud and clear.
