(171,074 posts)most families are dysfunctional. Mine is.
That doesn't mean you can't be happy.

(111,277 posts)And no, it doesn't matter which holiday we celebrate or if we celebrate any at all.
It matters that we're all willing to work together for a better world for everybody instead of just a few rich guys.
Eyes on the prize, folks, eyes on the prize.

Doing pretty well-headed backed to Anderson in Houston in January and hopefully will hear something (ANYTHING) good from the doctors then.

(23,664 posts)We expected a very small group - like three people plus the two of us.
Last time I looked there were seven people standing on our deck.
And the three we actually invited haven't gotten here yet.
Foodwise I think we're OK because we always cook way more than we consume.
But it's going to make a big dent in the booze supply.
Not sure how this happened. We'll have to have an inquiry.
Merry Christmas to all.

(23,664 posts)The three people who we actually invited were my son, his wife, and their 18 y.o. son.
The seven who claim they were invited were my granddaughter, her husband and their 6 y.o. daughter, plus two of the offspring of my late sister and their significant others (FWIW, my niece is in a same sex relationship with a very sweet lady who works as a high school librarian in a neighboring county).
Anyway, the evenings festivities did indeed stress our liquor supplies but my son and nephew made a 12 mile run to the nearest quickie mart and rescued the party.
Fortunately, it started to rain before the boys were able to set up for a skeet competition but everybody had had enough to drink that I took their keys to keep them from trying to drive home, so they spent the night here.
On Christmas day we learned that our daughter, who had spent Christmas Eve with our other granddaughter, wound up in the emergency room the next morning and underwent an emergency appendectomy.
I don't think we'll forget this Christmas for awhile. Grandma and I spent all of Christmas day in our pi's, the only part of the holiday that went according to plan.
