See past #27 and sorry for the confusion

(7,234 posts)but but but its Christmas, we all need to take time off to be with our families!
Interesting enough Eric Garner won't be home for Christmas ever again along with the other victims of police violence.
Good for them to continue to press ahead!

(5,018 posts)the thin blue line has disappeared entirely.
Protest supports honest and good cops.
Protesters want cops they can trust.
Protests promote honest police.
Honest police would like that.

I am in complete agreement that protest marches must continue.
The mayor did what he had to do, the protesters did what they had to do.

(14,691 posts)I got a closer look at the posters and it seemed to have been organized by the A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition. My reaction: Oh, THEM. I think A.N.S.W.E.R. is more about themselves than any cause. I'm not impressed now. I've had direct experience with those folks while a volunteer with another antiwar group. They do not cooperate with other groups. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A.N.S.W.E.R.
The right wing scrutinizing those signs will now truly have their "far left" target.

(15,882 posts)of it's black folk go unemployed, (many more of their community in comparison to white folk) by not hiring them in Federal jobs to keep the deficit lower - one of the few places they, our neighbors, can get good jobs regardless of their skin color - while others chortle about skyrocketing stock market profits, or just feel oh so swell about the value of their home, or maybe even just have a job, ignoring the fact that it is supported by the foreclosure and abandonment of 10 million families, the leaving of 10 million people in poverty during the past 6 years alone, and the complete abandonment of justice for the people from bank$ters, it's possible the sign carrier might have a point, eh?
So, yeah. But if you can find some capitalism where WE, or they, aren't profiting from people of color by the system around them, along now with those who are the most vulnerable, and those with the least money, I'd like to get the coordinates. There are more than a few people who would be willing to trade this one for that one.
I can't guess the song with one note. Never was good at that. (the Hmmmm)

(14,691 posts)is more about marxism-leninism than anything else. That's not from a right-wing rant. I've seen these guys in action when volunteering for an antiwar group. I don't like A.N.S.W.E.R.

(70,244 posts)if all these protests are a movement--but it is the closest I have seen- all these protests around the country --to a movement. Anyway, we have to have protests--visible ones day after day, week after week--and yes, folks do need to be inconvenienced at times. In solidarity.

This was the original Tweet and I had incorrectly thought it was Oregon (well Washington 1st time around). Sorry for the confusion.

Long Island City (L.I.C.) is the westernmost residential and commercial neighborhood of the New York City borough of Queens. L.I.C. is noted for its rapid and ongoing gentrification, its waterfront parks, and its thriving arts community.[1] L.I.C. has among the highest concentration of art galleries, art institutions, and studio space of any neighborhood in New York City.[2] The neighborhood is bounded on the north by the Queens neighborhood of Astoria; on the west by the East River; on the east by Hazen Street, 31st Street, and New Calvary Cemetery; and on the south by Newtown Creek, which separates Queens from Greenpoint, Brooklyn. It originally was the seat of government of Newtown Township, and remains the largest neighborhood in Queens. The area is part of Queens Community Board 1 north of the Queensboro (59th Street) Bridge and Queens Community Board 2 south of the Bridge.
