It was a Festivus miracle.

(11,417 posts)more than you need?
I like when you can pick out just what you need.
Home creepo put a lot of small hardware stores out of business. I use to go to a mom and pop store and pick out what I needed and put them in a sack and wrote on it the price per piece and how many.

(861 posts)I dunno, "24 and 3/4ths" seems awkward to me.

(6,228 posts)A choice between that and not fastening down the shower drain when laying the tile and having a leak and I choose to give them 3 cents.

(725 posts)When you need something like that it's not like you can use something else. You need it, you pay. Still shocked at the price, though. I had no idea screws were so expensive.

(6,228 posts)I am guessing they had a 200 pack for $10. Sadly, I don't know what I would do with 198 of them.

(725 posts)they're "screwing" you, lol. 3 @ .50 ea or 200 @ one tenth that! I guess that's sort of the contractor's discount since nobody else wants 200 screws, no matter what great screws they are. I don't know how places like Ace Hardware make any money selling screws, nuts, bolts, nails, etc, a few at a time, though, so I guess I can sort of see the reasoning of Home Depot. They don't want to "screw" around with onesy-twosys.

(146,331 posts)There, I can buy that size of screw in steel, stainless steel, brass or aluminum, and I can buy as few as one. I can buy any of them in flat head or round head, too. If I need Thom, I can buy nuts and washers in the same metals. Home Depot sucks.
Thinking a little, I realized that I can also get that 10-32 screw in nylon and copper there, and acorn nuts and wingnuts are also available in plated steel, stainless and brass in that size.

(19,379 posts)A employee happened to be working in the aisle and I asked him to check to see if they had any stashed somewhere. He checked, said no, they are on order and will be in the store in a couple of weeks as the order had to be "approved". I remarked to him that two weeks was an amazing amount of time for re-stocking something they have in the store all the time. He just shrugged and said he agreed.
So much for the "business model".

(19,379 posts)Plus it's twice the distance to the nearest Ace so it's not effective any way you look at it.

(971 posts)It's a double standard.
When Miley Cyrus gets naked and licks a sledgehammer, it's called "art" and "music".
When I do it, they say I'm " wasted" and throw me out of Home Depot.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Makes me think of "Party Boy" (Jackass) stripping down in the stereo store and dancing.
