"Theater owners pleaded with Sony to consider a limited release of 'The Interview'"

Another stupid move by Sony.......

Several major and independent theaters pleaded with Sony Pictures Entertainment to consider limited distribution of the film but were rejected by the movie studio, according to a source familiar with the talks.

In private calls with Sony Pictures Entertainment executives last week, theater owners suggested the movie studio release the film in smaller batches in order to assess the credibility of threats made by hacker group Guardians of Peace, said this source, who declined to speak on the record because the discussions were private.

“They rejected it,” said this person, who declined to speak on the record because the discussions were private. “Sony said it wanted a full release or nothing.”

Sony, which has blamed movie theaters for the cancelled release of “The Interview,” declined to comment on talks with theater owners. The studio has argued that when the country’s biggest theater chains, including Regal and AMC, canceled their screenings, the studio had no choice but to pull the movie from its scheduled theatrical release.

then the others would of jumped on board. Then Sony is back to normal with the theater count.

The thing that shocks me is how stupid this country is. So they think that N Korea can pull of a 9/11 style attack any time they want but just have not had a good enough reason yet?

Like N Korean is saying "We could kill dozens of Americans anytime we want but have not had a good enough reason yet"

Totally stupid.

As to NK capacity to do anything, thst is the usual fearmongering media taking a sniff to see if this will frighten enough folks to be worthy of wall to wall terrorizing for ratings.

first..frankly I would rather see what the hackers have on Sony than a bad comedy. Or any movie for that matter.

More racist emails? The owner of Regal is RW fundie.

Anybody that believes that NK was behind this hack is an idiot. The country can't even maintain its own food supply and they barely know what the word 'internet' means. The country is running like 50-60 years behind the rest of the world.

Someone is playing a dirty game.
