COLLIER COUNTY, FL -
Reverend Dr. Stephanie Burns is ready to officiate over same-sex weddings starting January 6, 2015. Burns is the pastor for New Day Metropolitan Community Church of Naples.
"We had our Holy Union in 1995 and so that's what we really consider our marriage date," New Day Metropolitan Community Church of Naples Rev. Dr. Stephanie Burns said.
Rev. Dr. Burns and her partner Tracy have been together for more than 20 years, but in order to legally marry last September they had to leave Florida.
"It's an expense that a lot of people can't afford at the time District of Columbia was one of the closet places to go," Rev. Dr. Burns said.

Naples is just South of where I live. Although I have not been to New Day MCC, I attend St. John the Apostle MCC in Fort Myers.
I am looking forward to attending many wedding's in the near future. Hopefully one of them will be mine.

(39,961 posts)my friends in Florida. Now if the rest of the nation will wake up, but oddly, it looks like Mississippi and Arkansas might get a whiff of reality before Louisiana does. Which makes no sense to me at all, and Georgia? Please explain being behind SC?

(39,961 posts)When you consider NO, LA, that's just SAD.
We'll all get there, my friend - it's just weird that MS and AR are ahead of ... NEW ORLEANS?
Florida, though, so many good people there.
It's a good day, my friend!

I'm afraid to bet bottom dollars, there will be sun, because that could be taken the wrong way by those "light on their feet folk" in Alabama.
