copied from Tumblr (written by someone who goes by "queenconsuelabananahammock" but I don't want anyone to think this is about them. I also recognize that it uses a derogatory term ("Blackie" but this was written by an African American woman trying to make a point - she isn't using it in that way - and I hope no jury votes to hide this based on the inclusion of that word.
Hopefully that will protect me from a jury and a bunch of replies about how it isn't fair to say "white people." She makes a very good point that needs to be explicitly pointed out. At my Christmas dinner, if anyone says Eric Garner deserved to die because he was allegedly selling illegal cigarettes, I will so pull this out. We as a society are more forgiving of some people than others.

Anyway, Tumblr post follows:
White people: Omg. So just because he was a "racist" and a "slaveowner" and "helped wage genocide against Native Americans", he wasn't a good person? He was still our President. Leave him alone.
White people: Omg. So just because he was a "racist" and "beat the shit out of both of his wives" he wasn't a bad person. He's still John Lennon. He was like, an activist. Do your research, Blackie and leave him alone.
*Two minutes later*
White people: I heard he stole some cigarillos. He deserved to die.
White people: He was selling illegal cigarettes. He deserved to die.
White people: He smoked weed. He deserved to die.

(22,336 posts)It supposedly was evidence that he was a "thug." I agree with your second sentence, but it isn't just a few people - maybe not common here but all too common in general.
