Take a break GD: Little Yosemite, Sunol Wilderness Photos

Hiked up to the Little Yosemite area of the Sunol Regional Wilderness today. We've finally had some rain here in the Bay Area, and this is the most water I've seen running in years. Take a break and enjoy some beauty from California.

Yes, there's a lot of runoff from the hills and it's been so dry for so long that there's a lot of dried out dirt coming down.

Excellent hardware and good know-how. I've got to get over to explore the Sunol Wilderness. Your post is the first time I've ever been aware of it.

I spent the day at the other end of the Bay Area, at the Cliff House and environs. My son's mother-in-law is here from Sofia, Bulgaria. I love having an excuse to show people around our beautiful world.

Here's a seagull on a rock, with the foggy Pacific in the background:

Lots of great spots around the Bay to hike and explore. Muir Woods up in the Oakland hills, Lafayette Reservoir, Mt Diablo. It's truly an amazing place. Hope your son's MIL has a great time while she's here!

Thanks. Glad you did this...both for you and for us, smile.

Had heard somewhere that the falls in Yosemite were dry. These photos give me hope! Water!

We need a little more snow for Yosemite to get going. These have really been warm storms.

Did about a 7-1/2 mile loop hike, passing Little Yosemite at the beginning.

Um - we don't belong to the same hiking club, do we?

I only went up a little past the W tree. Just got over bronchitis and climbing up and down to the river just about did me in.

Glad you got to enjoy it too. One of the gems of the Bay Area.

Sunol is my favorite park in the East Bay Regional Park district. I've been there many times, but I, too, have never seen the creek that high -- or the park so green.

Sadly destroyed by the Colby Fire. Haven't checked back lately, so I don't know the state of the trail though.

Mt. Diablo had a pretty bad fire last year and the rain been bringing back some vegetation.

Rain means the steeper trails are more stable since they're more compacted.

Wow, these are gorgeous!

All the little waterfalls are so lovely. I can almost hear the water!

I'll bet you were tired. Rest up now, and enjoy the fruits of your labor...

Thanks for sharing!

It was really nice to hear the sound of rushing water again. Something we've had precious little of these past few years.

Glad you enjoyed the pics.
