When my country decided they needed me,

they just came & drafted my ass. They didn't give me any choice about it. There wasn't any nonsense about "Sorry, Draft Board. I think we would all be better off if I just stay here where I am."

No. they just came and dragged me off-kicking and screaming.

in a serious way being elected, though. When a powerful industry or interest doesn't like you, they'll wreck you if you come too close. The corporate media will make sure of it. Obama was a fairly safe bet, compared to the ever-unstable McCain, and he didn't rock the boat enough to justify being overthrown in 2012. Edit to add: Hillary, Jebbie, Romney, Christie--all acceptable safe bets for 2016.
