(27,461 posts)the part about the voting is disingenuous. They mean whoever criticizes the president, shut up.

(15,805 posts)I voted. Seems to have had the same effect as not voting, so make mine a double.

(84,711 posts)so this has nothing to do with Mid-Term voter turnout.
57 Democrats voted for the Cromnibus and President Obama sent Denis McDonough over to twist arms to make sure it passed. He deserves some credit here...ya think?
From the Guardian:

Thank you and Merry Christmas, said Boehner as he secured 219 votes, one more than he needed to guarantee passage and including support from 57 Democrats. The 206 no votes were bolstered by 67 Republicans, more than expected, who are angry that their party is not using the budget to challenge president Obama more aggressively on immigration reform.
Apologize for Edits on Numbers....my laptop is acting funny and I can't edit quickly.

(14,733 posts)with 52 or 57 Dems I think they said.
Still, I'm pretty sure virtually everybody here voted in the midterms, so I doubt this is anything more than stirring the pot.

One vote more than needed to pass, not one vote margin. My bad.
Yeah, and I think they said something about 2 out of 3 Dem leaders voting for it? So Pelosi against, and Hoyer gives it the boost it needs to pass.
(Edit, I maligned Hoyer and he doesn't deserve it. He did NOT vote for it. The list is here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251390301 )
(Second edit: Yes, he did vote for it. Somehow while reading the list, my eyes skipped over him originally. )
Same old same old 'rotating villains'.

(24,703 posts)I voted in the last election and all (8) of the congressional members of this state voted for this greed.
If they would have voted Nay(no) the bill would have failed in my opinion, and 10 of representatives of greed from other states did not vote at all, so when they made the count (216)they stopped and are planning on other three weeks or longer vacation

(14,255 posts)That being said, I don't think Obama is unhappy with ANY of the provisions in the bill. I don't think Hillary would be unhappy, either.

(27,787 posts)Just think ... in a few months, the GOP takes control of congress ... and we'll be racing that much faster towards the progressive utopia we all dream about.
Apparently.

(27,787 posts)... but hey ... maybe they'll come and explain the next steps to the plan.
You know ...
Step 1: Kick out the DINOs
Step 2: Umm, well, umm ... (I'm not clear on this part)
Step 3: Progressive Utopia occurs.
Step 4: Celebrate!!!

(13,986 posts)"Things will get so bad that the masses will see the light and join the progressive movement en masse".
Or something like that.
JoePhilly
(27,787 posts)... they should not be too upset about the spending bill passing ... as that would be a necessary condition for said utopia to occur.

(14,733 posts)It also makes it far clearer to voters who the good guys are and who the bad guys are, when some of the 'good guys' aren't giving 'bipartisan cover' to the bad guys.

And feel as though I'm getting a double shot of shut the fuck up. Completely nonsensical op. If you voted or not, speak up. Never sit down. There is a word for people who think it is cute to stifle dissent. How about nobody shuts the fuck up.
If you didn't do "x," then shut the fuck up. That about sums up discourse here.

(26,549 posts)Oh wait, how about a tall glass of "try to know that the fuck you are talking about".

(65 posts)What I hear in this post is "if only I had voted all would be right in the world"
"The bill would have been different"
This is just fantasy
The drink you suggest must be the one of choice for the so called Democrats who come to our local meetings. You know. The place where the candidates supposedly get first selected.
Not only does it cause the sycophants attending to shout "shut up" when even the slightest criticism of the current party politics comes up (and God help those who even question our dear hope and change leader) but it must also induce them to read what must be clearly stated in the Democratic Party rule books
Rule 1. When confronted by any Republican assume The Position. Crawl on the floor. Curl up into the fetal position. Whine. Then chant "I see no evil.I hear no evil"
Rule 2. Now let's all sing Kumbaya and don't forget to vote
Rule 3. Make up some silly reason for the inevitable repeated failures.
