Anyone have any original inspirations/one-liners for the SOTU?

I was a meeting at the White House today, and some of us were given a special email address to submit ideas for Obama to include in the SOTU.

I'll have a couple of my own, but if anyone has anything that sounds inspiring, I'll pass it on, and credit DU (or your real name if you want it attributed). I certainly don't have a monopoly on inspiration, so I'll be happy to pass anything on that sounds really inspiring.

And wll remand them to the International Criminal Court."

That would go down in the history books.

I think they were looking for something he is likely to really say. They asked for inspirations, they were not taking requests.

Too many Teamericans act as though their beliefs (evolution, budget numbers, etc) are somehow more valid than the actual facts.

Sort of a follow up to Al Franken's "You are not entitles to your own facts."

They didn't give out the address to everybody, as far as I know, couple of hundred people maybe, and they said they'd read every suggestion that came in.

Or maybe something like "with our friends having a majority in both chambers of Congress, I pledge to the American people to not allow legislation that hurts working families and the poor, without it hitting a veto"

I won't hold my breath.

Besides, just the fact that he's GIVING the SOTU and will again one more time must make half of them doubt that there is a God, no matter what their local Baptist minister yelled at them.

That's my hoped-for line for the SOTU.

He is in the last two years of his Presidency, and will be a Democratic President with a Republican-controlled Congress. A reminder that he has the power of the veto must be openly stated. Frankly, such statements are not his normal style, so I'd encourage him to make that statement clearly and unequivocally.

I think he does need us to remind him.

It may not jive with his style to provoke them with it in the SOTU. He can say it at plenty of other occasions without rubbing it in the faces at a venue where they might feel almost obligated to challenge him on it.

He has two audiences for it. I think the larger one is more important, really.
