You don't abandon those who have supported you there to suffering and discrimination. There is nothing progressive about that at all. You fight on.

Please read this article. On my Kindle and will post text later but this idea that your political strategy should inflict hardship just doesn't fit with inclusiveness and a just and progressive democracy for me.

(64,933 posts)I would hazard a guess that the KKK is more popular than the Democratic party in some of those states.
That being said, I still think there is hope for some of those states in the next generation.

(39,215 posts)South are talking about campaigns. They mention the electoral college. They are talking about winning elections without the South. Using the money where it is going to produce the best results. And I think that only applies to a Presidential election. We have been consistently loosing over and over again in all levels of election for years now. The question is do we have any hope of winning in most consistently red states no matter where they are located or how much money we put into them?
