report" don't dissenters to the release understand?
Everyone knows there was torture, Cheney has bragged about it, Bush as acknowledged it, and the photos were all over the intertubes a long time ago.
What is not known yet (and I have my doubts we won't get a watered version) is how much worse it was than what we believed. We do know it was bad when they waterboarded one person an ungodly number of times. We do know they destroyed evidence which should have landed them in prison for destroying evidence. We do know the perps are walking free yet.

(34,074 posts)It is not releasing the report that will incite violence - it is the despicable actions we engaged (described in the reports) which will incite violence, particularly if our posture continues to be to justify the actions we took.
A little humility, honesty, and acknowledgement that we stepped over the line would go a long way toward easing the tensions to which our actions have already contributed. Continuing to cover up those actions does not do anyone any good.
