Wisconsin is scarcely a month removed from elections, and a critical issue has apparently emerged that requires immediate attention from our legislators.

It’s apparently so important that Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald announced Thursday that he will put the issue on the fast track and a bill addressing the issue will be brought forth in the Assembly.

No, the issue is not about a budget shortfall, tax reform, health care or even finding funding for transportation. The urgency is passing a right-to-work bill.

“I don’t know how we get through the session without having this debate,” Fitzgerald said.

to turn Wisconsin into a cold Alabama.

Meanwhile, next door in Minnesota, with almost identical demographics, climate, etc., we are doing quite well, thank you very much. We have a budget surplus and one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country and a legislature that passed a same-sex marriage bill and raised the minimum wage. We are not a right-to-work state, either. What's the big difference between Minnesota and Wisconsin? We have mostly Democrats running things. Our neighbors to the east apparently haven't figured out that having Democrats in charge can make their lives a little better.
