the big cities are very blue, the rest of the state can be very red. Even Sacramento is sort of red.

There are PLENTY of right wingers here, waiting for some scary disaster to establish a new toe-hold. It ain't gonna happen though because the demographics have caught up to them. It's a little glimpse into the political future of the rest of the country hopefully.
I live in one of those pockets of resistance. Thanks to open primaries I had two Republicans to choose from on the ballot for our congressional seat.
