(10,495 posts)Not trying to hi-hack the program, but I think that if you also start demanding Publicly Funded Elections while there it can help your goals. As long as corporate politicians are not beholden to us (Democratic governor of Missouri who did not appoint a Special Prosecutor for example) they don't have to do what we want. What they want is to keep us all down, distracted, and blaming each other for our problems.
The PTB inflame the racists through their media which will not be broken up until we regain our Representative Democracy. They push these voting restrictions without fear because they have corporate money to bombard the people with lies, fear, hate, and racism!
Be safe and take it to them, things have gone beyond insane!!!

I haven't heard yet of any marches around the country being planned to coordinate with the national march, but a couple of links to check for other protests are:

(3,580 posts)I got the earliest one that gets me there at 0900. I'll have to feed and be ready to leave my house at 0500. Who else is going.
I was going to see if there might be a bus going from Richmond but I did that once took a church bus and got stuck on a bus with people singing hymns. I know why was I surprised.

(11,833 posts)We march in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Washington, D.C.
Albuquerque is under investigation from the Justice Department for having one of the highest rates of police shooting unarmed people. We demand reform.
All who are going to D.C. - thank you. Be safe. I look forward to hearing about it from participants. Love to all.
This is historic. Attend if you can!
Black lives matter. We demand justice!

(11,833 posts)Have a wonderful weekend. I'm getting ready for marching tomorrow. Setting out some warm clothes.
This issue hits me really hard. Police are supposed to serve and protect us.
Shooting unarmed people and getting off scot-free. That is not serving and protecting. That's an absolute travesty. It must change.
It will change. Good people everywhere are taking to the streets. We demand change.

(53,339 posts)Taking the 2-hr train down makes it a long haul, but I've done a lot of Occupy and other protests that way. And joining with other DUers made it even more special.
Reports and photos from DUers on the ground are especially meaningful. I love that! And you know what I mean, because we've done that together.

(7,908 posts)able to make it, and I've grown a bit leery of ANSWER's downtown LA Saturday rallies, as there is no one there to see them. (Did way too many of them during the Iraq War to keep count.)
But, FWIW, here's the march info. (I did get an email about this one):

Thousands of protesters marched down iconic Pennsylvania Avenue on Saturday, arriving at the Capitol to call attention to the deaths of unarmed black men at the hands of police and call for legislative action.
"What a sea of people," said Lesley McSpadden, the mother of Michael Brown, an 18-year-old killed in Ferguson, Missouri, in August. "If they don't see this and make a change, then I don't know what we got to do. Thank you for having my back."
