Anonymous catches Chicago PD tapping protesters' phones.

Looks like police in Chicago have a tricked out surveillance truck equipped with cell site simulators, a.k.a. Stingrays, that force nearby phones to send data to cops instead of to phone company cell towers. Did those cops get a warrant for that?

Anonymous has released a video featuring what appear to be Chicago police radio transmissions revealing police wiretapping of organizers' phones at the protests last night the day after Thanksgiving, perhaps using a stingray. The transmissions pointing to real-time wiretapping involve the local DHS-funded spy 'fusion' center.

Video and tapes at link.

1. Did they get a warrant? Probably not, don't we have that new type of warrant in this country

it's 'secret' and it is a 'group warrant', well so were told. I never heard of a group warrant on millions of people, but I was told right here that the government has the right to spy on MY phone, without any probably cause, because ... I can't remember why.

So they probably don't need any warrant, they can just spy on people all they want. It's all just 'meta data' now.

Despicable people, so filled with fear and paranoia and hatred for their fellow Americans. Good for Anon for exposing them.

If a court rules they violated people's rights no one will be fired and any settlement will come out of the citizen's pockets.

Aint that just grand?

don't be surprised if you see the types of SUV's parked along the Strip back streets. Total paranoia and lack of trust of our citizens is the bottom line. Stinger's all over this town set out on a grid pattern disguised as cell towers. Have fun in Vegas, but, remember cameras everywhere.

Of COURSE now that have the means, they will use it on a regular basis, intercepting phone calls.

Warrants are so outdated, just like the Constitution....

Don't expect to see the Edward Snowden haters in this thread.

Really glad to see this crap being caught and called out. Sometimes hacktivism is good for something.

my house and/or my body, I have a
right to look at (receive) that signal.
If you don't like that, I suggest using encryption.

And phones today are more powerful computers than computers were ten years ago.

the cell phone company needs a license
from the FCC to operate transmitters.

...............my assumption is.............
local law enforcement has FCC permission
to spoof being a celltower.
