Do people really carry firearms in their waistband?

We've heard this a few times now...

This seems like a TV fantasy...television is the only place I've ever seen guys tuck a pistol into their waistband...

Seriously - isn't anyone afraid shooting their nads off? Seems wildly dangerous...

If there is worse place to stow a gun...Im not sure where it is.

Do people - even actual criminals - actually do this???

Having an empty holster, properly stowed kind of belies the whole, "Who me? Haven't seen a gun around here.." schtick.

Ask Plaxico Burress (sp?) about it.

but I sure have been treated by police as if I'm a mortal threat to them, for as little as failing to signal a turn, guns at the ready and all. Cops seem like they're on drugs, speed, adrenaline, steriods, something.

A "gun in the belt" certainly makes a good rationale for treating everyone like they are a mortal danger, just in case.

He was a star NFL player who went to prison after his gun fell out of his waist band at a club (it went of and struck him in the leg, I think.)

holster. Many of those are clip-on style, so they would be easy to ditch, if necessary, I suppose.

Most often on the side/hip or back. Rarely pointed at the nutz.

You can't really sit down with a gun in your front and most guys got a belly thats in the way anyway.

The model of gun makes the risk high or low. Generally not recommended as the guns a prone to falling out of the waistband.

Probably an elastic waistband...sure that would hold a gun!
