And Erdely (the reporter) said she would be going forward with the story whether Jackie agreed or not.

(56,582 posts)As far as the ethics goes, I'd give a lot of leeway to a victim of a sex crime (or someone claiming to be one) on whether or not I would print their story.
As far as the journalism goes, if the key narrator of the fact set you are hanging your larger "trend" piece on backs out, that should probably make you want to at least double-check her claims if you intend to go forward anyways.
