Christie: Keystone XL pipeline should be approved, would 'strengthen' North Amercia

http://www.nj.com/politics/index.ssf/2014/12/christie_with_alberta_premier_argues_for_keystone_xl.html#incart_river

After a private meeting with Alberta's premier, Jim Prentice, Gov. Chris Christie today said the Keystone XL pipeline would "strengthen" North America and should be approved without any environmental stipulations, such as a national tax on carbon.

"I think these are the sort of decisions that should be made on the merits of the project - especially with regards to a neighbor and a friend," Christie said, gesturing to Prentice. "I've made this evaluation of my position in support of the Keystone project on the basis of the merits of the project."

Saying the project was already "environmentally sensitive," Christie said he wasn't concerned with what he called "collateral issues," like greenhouse gas emissions and or environmental regulations.

While its approval by President Obama could hinge on a "carbon tax," Christie said such a tax "would be no factor in my view" and "whether or not it would be a factor for the President's view is something you'd have to ask the President."

With crude prices where they are, it would be a waste of money. Costs more to operate the pipeline than gas is worth now.

of his owners-the Koch Brothers. Meanwhile at home he's allowing New Jersey to be carved up by gas and petroleum pipelines. He's just trying to let the rest of the country in on the fun.
